The President of the Government of Andalusia meets the CEO of Huawei Spain and assesses the deployment of 5G technology

The President of the Government of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, held a meeting this week with the new CEO of Huawei Spain, Eric Li, at the Palacio de San Telmo, where connectivity and 5G technology were the focus of the meeting. In this regard, Moreno has valued the work of his government with the companies responsible for improving connectivity, so that the Internet reaches every corner of the region with the required quality. He also emphasised the actions being carried out by the Andalusian government to accelerate the deployment of 5G.

At this point, Moreno thanked Huawei for its role in the ‘5G Andalusia Pilot’ project, which the Chinese multinational is developing in collaboration with Vodafone and other companies. In this line, he stressed that 5G technology is a key factor to digitise all strategic areas of Andalusia, with a great impact on key economic sectors such as industry and tourism. But also in other sectors such as social healthcare or the digitisation of rural areas.

Juanma Moreno assured Andalusia is ready to take on this new digital paradigm, positioning itself ambitiously in the technology industry. With regard to the latter, he highlighted the contracts and agreements with important technological partners to reduce the digital divide in the autonomous community and hopes that Huawei will join the exciting and great project of the digital transformation of Andalusia.

Similarly, the Andalusian president has conveyed to the new CEO of Huawei in Spain his satisfaction at being able to open institutional relations with the technology multinational. He said that Andalusia will take advantage of European aid to make the leap that will allow the region to go further. To this end, the region already has a powerful ecosystem with 11 science and technology parks, institutes, and research centres in biomedicine and other innovative specialities, as well as the Andalusian Digital Agency (ADA), the main asset for managing the transformation of the Andalusian Regional Government’s Administration.

He also praised the conditions offered by Andalusia to companies that decide to invest in the region, such as institutional and economic stability, the highly qualified talent that exists, and a lower tax burden, among others.
