The beaches of Cádiz, jewels of nature

The province of Cadiz has 260 kilometres of coastline and 138 kilometres of beaches: coves, inlets, and sandy beaches stretching for several kilometres. There are beaches with history, such as Trafalgar, in front of which the famous battle was fought, and film beaches such as La Caleta, where scenes from the film Agent 007 were filmed. There are pioneering beaches in Europe, such as Victoria, which has achieved EU environmental management certification, and colourful beaches such as those of Tarifa, with the vertigo of fly-surfers and their kites. Beaches ideal for windsurfing; underwater fishing also enjoys many followers in the transparent waters of its numerous beaches: Los Lances, Bolonia, and Valdevaqueros among others. In total, 74 different beaches.

The cliffs of Caños de Meca, in Barbate, and the coves of Conil are particularly noteworthy. In some of them, we find natural monuments such as the dunes of Bolonia beach or the fishing corrals of Rota. In Cadiz, it is very common for the sea to meet the mountains, with landscapes of pine forests, woods, and marshes. Punta Candor in Rota and the beach of El Castillo in San Fernando are very natural beaches, but each in its way: if in one the rocky massifs stand out, in others they can only be reached by swimming or on foot.

The beaches of Cádiz are special, and this is not only said by the locals, but by all those who decide to spend the summer in this province. Its sands are fine and golden and its water invites you to take a dip at any time of the year. Of course, kitesurfing and surfing in Tarifa are two of the main attractions of the beaches of Cádiz. The most famous are perhaps Playa de Roche and Playa de Zahara de los Atunes, for their beautiful sands and the size of the beaches. But the beach of Bolonia is not far behind. All the beaches of Cádiz are, in general, perfect for a weekend getaway where you can relax from the stress of the city and breathe fresh air in a peaceful atmosphere. A jewel of the province.
