Andalusia, first tourist destination to sponsor global esports competitions

Andalusia has become the first tourist destination to sponsor major global esports competitions, following the agreement reached with Riot Games, owner of the video games League of Legends (LOL) and Valorant. This was announced by the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport, Arturo Bernal, at the presentation of the alliance in Malaga, where he stressed that the Andalusia brand will be present at major international competitions to be held in 2023 and 2024.

4th December: Why is the Andalusian Flag Day?

The 4th of December has been since 1977 a symbolic date for andalusism due to the historic demonstrations that took place all over Andalusia in 1977 claiming for the autonomy of the region. That day where almost two million of citizens took the streets peacefully ended tragically in Malaga as a young worker, Manuel José García Caparrós, was shot dead after the police intervention. More than forty years later, the Andalusian government has given official recognition to that historic moment declaring the date as ‘Andalusian flag day’ for its importance in the later approval of Andalusia’s statute of autonomy.

A research team from the University of Cadiz has applied two different artificial intelligence tools to compare the precision in the quality control process of petrol and classify it according to its capacity for self-combustion. Specifically, an ‘electronic nose’, designed by the same team of experts to detect the remains of flammable liquids in a fire, and infrared have been used to discriminate between the two most commercially available types of petrol.
