Extenda Global 2021, the annual event that brings together Andalusia’s foreign sector, will once again be held in person on 17 and 18 November at the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Sevilla (Fibes). The event, which is the largest international trade meeting held in Andalusia, has today opened its registration period through the web portal www.extendaglobal.es, where companies can also formalise their requests for B2B meetings with representatives of the 62 countries they are interested in, of the 62 in which the Extenda External Network provides services.

Andalusian exports to the United Kingdom (UK) have increased in the first seven months of the year by 16.1% year-on-year to reach 1,413.9 million euros, according to the Brexit Monitoring Report on the Andalusian economy presented by the Department of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities of the Government of Andalusia.

The number of registered companies in August 2021 in Andalusia amounted to 235,477, registering a growth of 2.1% compared to the same month in 2020. This is equivalent to 4,865 more entities. The retail trade sales index grew at current prices in July by 6.2% year-on-year in Andalusia, more than one point above the previous month. The Regional Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities and the Andalusian Council of Chambers of Commerce has selected the 40 technology companies that will participate in the second edition of the Global Business Trip, which aims to promote business opportunities for the Andalusian ICT sector in the markets of Mexico and Chile. The programme, which this year takes place in a virtual format due to the COVID-19 pandemic, begins training in internationalisation and marketing for the participating companies on 13 September.

Since its launch in 2014, ‘Andalucía Open Future’ has promoted more than 200 startups in its acceleration programme for high-performance companies and has become one of the benchmark initiatives to support technological entrepreneurship in the region. Minerva Programme startups increase their turnover by 41.6% and close to €11 million

The Minerva Programme, an accelerator promoted by the Regional Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge, and Universities together with Vodafone, has promoted a total of 183 startups since its creation almost a decade ago. In total, these initiatives have already invoiced almost 11 million euros in 2020, 41.6% more than in 2019. This figure reflects the resilient nature of the technology companies that have joined this initiative, which has managed to grow during the first year of the pandemic.
