Extenda Global 2021, the annual event that brings together Andalusia’s foreign sector, will once again be held in person on 17 and 18 November at the Palacio de Congresos y Exposiciones de Sevilla (Fibes). Extenda-Andalucía Exports and Foreign Investment organised the participation of a dozen Andalusian firms in the Smart Agrifood Summit, the leading meeting in the industry for the creation of innovation ecosystems in the European agri-food sector, which was held between 30 September and 1 October at the Trade Fairs and Congress Centre in Malaga. Andalusian exports to the United Kingdom (UK) have increased in the first seven months of the year by 16.1% year-on-year to reach 1,413.9 million euros, according to the Brexit Monitoring Report on the Andalusian economy presented by the Department of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities of the Government of Andalusia.

Andalusia’s agri-food exports reached 7,756 million euros in the first seven months of 2021, its best historical record for a January-July period since comparable data has been available (1995), thanks to year-on-year growth of 7.3%. This is a strategic sector, which will contribute more than 5,000 million euros of the positive foreign trade balance to the regional economy in 2021. This significant increase is due to the remarkable activity of the Andalusian agro-industry, which is growing not only in sales but also with a strong increase in the number of exporting companies, up 19.8% year-on-year to 3,522, according to Extenda data.

Olive grove production next season will exceed one million tonnes of olive oil (1,050,300 tonnes) and 5.25 million tonnes of olives for milling in 2021-2022. In the case of oil, this quantity represents a reduction of 5.5% compared to 2020-2021 and a decrease of 4.5% compared to the average of the last five seasons. This was announced by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Sustainable Development of the Government of Andalusia, Carmen Crespo in Expoliva.
