A scientific publication by Andalusian researchers, specifically from the Clinical Bioinformatics Area of the Progreso y Salud Foundation, is among the 100 most downloaded publications of 2021 out of a total of more than 24,500 scientific articles, according to the journal Scientific Reports, from the Nature publishing group.

A research team from the University of Cadiz has applied two different artificial intelligence tools to compare the precision in the quality control process of petrol and classify it according to its capacity for self-combustion. Specifically, an ‘electronic nose’, designed by the same team of experts to detect the remains of flammable liquids in a fire, and infrared have been used to discriminate between the two most commercially available types of petrol.

The Regional Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities has identified up to 189 entities with activity and research capacity in Artificial Intelligence (AI), of which 110 are companies, 56 belong to the Andalusian knowledge system and 23 are scientific and technological infrastructures. This is the result of the report ‘Identification of Andalusian capabilities in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI)’, promoted by the Regional Government and in which the Andalusian Technological Corporation and the Andalusian Institute for Research in Data Science and Computational Intelligence (DaSCI) have participated.
