Andalusia opens up to healthcare business in the United Arab Emirates

Extenda has organised a trade mission to the Arab Health fair, the most important medical-hospital sector fair in the Middle East and the second-largest exhibition of the industry in the world. Five Andalusian companies participated in its 46th edition, which was held in a blended format, four of them both online and in-person at the Dubai World Trade Centre in Dubai in the last week of June, and one in virtual format, which is still open in the digital calendar of agendas.

Andalusian firms from the healthcare technology sector held more than twenty business meetings at Arab Health with 13 local companies and institutions, to gain a presence in a market that plans to increase its healthcare spending to 20 billion dollars by 2024, and which offers opportunities in a wide range of areas related to cutting-edge medical equipment, artificial intelligence, and medical tourism.

The country’s government wants its healthcare sector to be among the most innovative in the world, which implies a commitment to the development of innovations in the area of robotics, medical care, and the application of drones. All of this will lead to significant health spending of up to 20 billion dollars in 2024, up to 5 billion more than in 2019.

The Arab Health fair is considered the most important medical-hospital sector fair in the region and the second most important in the world. In parallel to the exhibition, an extensive programme of medical congresses is held in different specialties with more than 13,000 professional delegates. Every year, this benchmark event brings together more than 4,000 exhibitors and 50,000 visitors from 60 countries, covering a wide range of sectors such as electromedical equipment, clinical furniture, e-health, emergency, pharmaceuticals, personalised healthcare, medical insurance, telemedicine, and health tourism.

Five Andalusian companies participated in Arab Health with the support of Extenda, four of them both in-person and online. Two companies from Granada, Jalsosa and IF3 LAB, were present, as well as two from Seville, Laboratorios Bio-Dis and Masksafety, and one from Cordoba, EuroGaza Emergencias.
