Andalusian industry sales register a year-on-year increase of 36% in June

Turnover in the industry grew by 36% year-on-year in Andalusia last June compared to the same month last year, 17 points higher than the Spanish average. This is the result of the data relating to the Industrial Turnover Index published by the Andalusian Institute of Statistics and Cartography (IECA), which reports to the Regional Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge, and Universities.

This index measures the monthly evolution of the activity of the companies that form part of the industrial sector in Andalusia on the basis of their turnover, i.e. turnover, in monetary terms, due to the sale of goods and the provision of industrial services to third parties.

Andalusia leads together with Asturias, with the same percentage, the largest increases produced by communities, ahead of other regions such as the Canary Islands, Murcia, and Catalonia. Turnover in the Andalusian industry has risen for four consecutive months, after the declines recorded in previous months as a result of the health and economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Adjusted for calendar effects and seasonality, turnover in industry rose in Andalusia last June by 38.6% with respect to the same period the previous year. In order for the monthly series to be comparable, the data are corrected for seasonal effects that occur in certain periods of the year and which may distort their analysis, such as, for example, the start of the school year or holiday periods. Likewise, the effects of the calendar are adjusted for the variation in productivity due to the different structures of the months, such as the number of working days in the month or public holidays. Therefore, the rate of change in June grew by 93.4% in energy, 33.4% in intermediate goods, 21.7% in consumer goods and 10.6% in capital goods.

In the first six months of the year, industry turnover accumulated an average growth of 20.8%, with energy standing out with an accumulated growth of 28.3%.
