Andalusian exports increase by 13.2% in the first five months of the year

Exports from Andalusia once again recorded robust growth in May, up 29.5% compared to the same month in 2020, reaching 2,876 million, making it the third-best May in history since comparable data has been available (1995). An intense rise that exceeds four points the -25.6% drop suffered by sales in May 2020, the second full month of the pandemic in Spain.

The Harmonised Business Confidence Index, which measures companies’ expectations regarding the economic situation and the evolution of their businesses, increased by 13.3% in Andalusia in the third quarter of 2021 compared to the previous quarter, thus registering the highest increase in 2020, according to data published by the Andalusian Institute of Statistics and Cartography (IECA). This percentage is one point above the national average, which has seen a rise of 12.3%.

The Governing Council has approved the Strategy for the Internationalisation of the Andalusian Economy 2021-2027 (EIEA 21-27), which has an initial allocation of 618 million euros aimed at increasing the degree of internationalisation of the Andalusian economy and companies, generating quality employment and strengthening Andalusia’s position in the world, to increase exports and foreign investment.
