Extenda has organised the group participation of the Andalusian children’s fashion sector in the summer edition of INDX Kidswear 2021, the most important children’s fashion fair in the United Kingdom, which was held in person last July at the Cranmore Park Conference and Event Centre in Birmingham, with the participation of five Andalusian companies from the children’s textile industry.

The public company has opted to promote this Andalusian sector in the British countryside, where the children’s clothing industry concentrated a market value of approximately 6,186 million pounds in 2020, experiencing more stable sales than the men’s and women’s clothing sectors. Furthermore, according to Extenda data, forecasts indicate that this industry will present an accumulated growth of 4% compared to the market value recorded in 2019, when Covid-19 had no impact on the economy and could reach sales of approximately 6,901 million pounds.

With their participation in this fair, the leading event for the children’s fashion industry in the British market, Andalusian companies have had the opportunity to show their seasonal proposals to thousands of visitors from all over the world, including prestigious buyers, distributors, and specifiers, as well as to establish business contacts to generate business opportunities.

Due to the wide variety of children’s clothing brands already present in the British market, Andalusian firms find in this market opportunities linked to the promotion of their products related to quality, price, design, and innovation, so they will have to implement marketing and advertising actions to stand out in a highly competitive market. In turn, brands can easily position original designs and durable garments, which, by applying multi-channel strategies and brand experience actions, must compete with the low-price trend introduced by large UK chains.

INDX Kidswear is the UK’s largest children’s fashion show, organised by Associated Independent Stores, which is the largest independent buying group in the UK and Ireland. It is generally held twice a year, in February and July. The event, which has been running for 16 years, brings together more than 200 brands of fashion, footwear, accessories, and special occasions for babies and children. The show, which offers the independent buyer a wide range in all areas, has been growing season after season in the number of exhibitors, brands, showrooms, registrations, and number of visitors.

It should be remembered that Andalusian exports in the fashion sector accumulated 299 million euros in the first five months of 2021, with a growth of 2.4% over the same period last year, according to Extenda data. In turn, the fashion sector is characterised by being highly diversified, as it reaches four continents with its top ten markets.
