Extenda and Andalucía Aerospace sign collaboration agreement

The CEO of Extenda, Arturo Bernal, and the president of the Andalucía Aerospace cluster, Antonio Gómez-Guillamón, have signed this week a collaboration agreement to boost the international promotion of the Andalusian aerospace industry. This agreement aims to optimise and coordinate their respective resources, programmes and activities in order to boost the international promotion of a sector in which Andalusia is the second largest exporter in Spain, with 1,761 million euros (40% of Spain) in 2020, 77% more than ten years ago.

Through this public-private alliance, both entities will share information related to companies in their field interested in the internationalisation process, as well as data on the sector that can serve as a basis for the design of sectoral internationalisation strategies. They will also carry out continuous dissemination activities such as conferences, seminars, studies and visits.

On the other hand, Extenda-Andalucía Export and Foreign Investment will promote through Andalucía Aerospace and its associated firms its information services, training, consultancy programmes, and its commercial actions in all the markets of the world, including those covered through its Foreign Network present in 62 markets, and the actions programmed from its geographical areas for America, Asia-Pacific, Africa-Middle East and Europe.

Arturo Bernal, CEO of Extenda, stressed the importance of the implementation of this agreement, “for the progress it represents for public-private collaboration, under a common goal, which is to raise the Andalusian aerospace industry to national leadership in exports”. In addition, he showed “Extenda’s clear commitment to continue supporting a strategic sector for the community, which has remained active despite the strong tensions to which this industry is subjected as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic”. Proof of this is the success achieved just a week ago with the organisation and holding by Extenda of Aerospace & Defence Meetings-ADM Seville 2021, one of the largest business events in the sector held in Europe.

Bernal also stressed the importance of reaching this agreement with the Andalucía Aerospace business cluster, “the sector’s benchmark entity in our region, which has also played a key role in the success of ADM and has become the essential ambassador for the aerospace sector in the region in international markets”. Andalucía Aerospace represents 72 companies in the sector, which includes all the Andalusian exporting companies in 2020 (67).

For his part, the president of the Andalucía Aerospace business cluster, Antonio Gómez-Guillamón, highlighted the importance of “internationalisation as an essential way to consolidate our supply chain”. In this last year, very complicated for companies in the sector, it has been shown that “the diversification of activities and the implementation in different countries are key strategies to stabilise the business” in the face of possible crises such as the one we are experiencing.
