The Regional Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities and the Andalusian Council of Chambers of Commerce has selected the 40 technology companies that will participate in the second edition of the Global Business Trip, which aims to promote business opportunities for the Andalusian ICT sector in the markets of Mexico and Chile. The programme, which this year takes place in a virtual format due to the COVID-19 pandemic, begins training in internationalisation and marketing for the participating companies on 13 September.

The president of the Government of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, has announced that his government will take a new administrative simplification package to the Andalusian parliament in the session that is beginning, which, together with those already underway, will continue to reduce obstacles for all those investors who want to produce and create jobs in the autonomous region. “The Andalusian Administration has an excessive bureaucratic burden that limits, prevents, and delays many investments and projects. ‘Andalucía Open Future’ exceeds 200 accelerated start-ups

Since its launch in 2014, ‘Andalucía Open Future’ has promoted more than 200 startups in its acceleration programme for high-performance companies and has become one of the benchmark initiatives to support technological entrepreneurship in the region. This programme, led by the Regional Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge and Universities, and Telefónica, with the collaboration of the city councils of Malaga, Almeria, and Cordoba, has incorporated 24 companies made up of 164 entrepreneurs in the acceleration spaces of El Cubo (Seville), La Farola (Malaga), El Cable (Almeria) and El Patio (Cordoba) in 2021.

Andalusia registered a total of 358 patent applications in 2020. Of these, a total of 202 have been applied for nationally, 39 via the European route and 117 via the PCT (Patent Cooperation Treaty, with international extension). This figure represents an increase of 6.55% over the previous year, which contrasts with the decrease of -1.47% for the whole of Spain (3,283 registrations).

The Minerva Programme, an accelerator promoted by the Regional Ministry of Economic Transformation, Industry, Knowledge, and Universities together with Vodafone, has promoted a total of 183 startups since its creation almost a decade ago. In total, these initiatives have already invoiced almost 11 million euros in 2020, 41.6% more than in 2019. This figure reflects the resilient nature of the technology companies that have joined this initiative, which has managed to grow during the first year of the pandemic.
